Security Update to Thunderbird 3.1.2 for OpenSolaris b134

Thunderbird 3.1.2 がリリースされた

Mozilla は米国時間 2010 年 8 月 5 日、定期的なメンテナンススケジュールによる、安定性及びセキュリティ問題を修正した Thunderbird 3.1.2 をリリースした。

Thunderbird 3.1.2 は Windows, Mac そして Linux 版が用意され、Mozilla ウェブサイトよりダウンロードできるほか、既存の Thunderbird 3.1 ユーザには自動アップデート経由で通知されるが、ヘルプメニューの “ソフトウェアの更新を確認”より手動で確認することも可能だ。

なお、Thunderbird 3.0 系のメンテナンスは 2010 年 12 月をもって終了を予定されており、Mozilla では最新版である Thunderbird 3.1.x への移行を勧めている。

例によって、OpenSolaris-i386 対応版(en-US) の Tarball をダウンロードしてインストールする。

  8. Thunderbird 再起動の後にいったん終了

  9. メニューなどを日本語表示させるための設定

  11. メールアカウントおよび環境設定、アドオンの更新・インストール・設定

Update to Latest Release Firefox and Thunderbird for OpenSolaris dev. b134 on My Notebook PC

Firefox 3.6.8, Thunderbird 3.1.1, Thunderbird 3.0.6 がリリースされている。
My Notebook にインストール済みの Firefox 3.6.7, Thunderbird 3.0.5 Thunderbird 3.1 をアップデートする。

"Mozilla Thunderbird 3.1 was just released featuring faster search, quick filter toolbar, better migration assistant and many other improvements. A complete list of what's new can be found @ Mozilla's website.

There is no PPA for Ubuntu providing the latest Mozilla Thunderbird 3.1 for now and there are no plans to push an update in the existing Ubuntu versions (that means Lucid too) like it happened with Firefox so the only way to install it is manually, or by using Ubuntuzilla (it works with any Ubuntu version).

So to install Thunderbird 3.1 in Ubuntu, firstly install Ubuntuzilla. You can download a .deb file from HERE.

Once Ubuntuzilla is installed successfully, to install Thunderbird 3.1, all you have to do is run the following command in a terminal:
ubuntuzilla.py -a install -p thunderbird
During the installation, Ubuntuzilla will ask you to choose the localization you want to install, so it will install Thunderbird 3.1 in your language!

If you used the manual method to install Thunderbird 3.1 we were telling you about not so long ago, then all you have to do is select 'Check for updates' from the Thunderbird About menu."

Thunderbird 3.1 Released! Available for OpenSolaris b134

2010年6月24日（米国時間）Mozillaは、メールソフト Thunderbird のメジャーバージョンとなる Thunderbird 3.1 を公開した。

今回のバージョンでは、高速なメッセージ検索、旧バージョンからのスムーズなアップグレード、クイックフィルタツールバーなどの新機能を搭載したものとなっている。

Thunderbird 3.1 の主な新機能と改良点は次の通りです。

メッセージ検索の高速化 (改良) : メッセージの索引作成にかかる時間を短縮するとともに、全文検索もさらに高速になりました。

クイックフィルタツールバー (新機能) : 開いているフォルダ内のメッセージを、直感的なユーザインタフェースですばやく絞り込めます。任意のキーワードで検索できるだけでなく、未読メッセージ、マークや添付ファイルの有無、送信者がアドレス帳に登録されているかといった条件をワンクリックで指定可能です。

設定変更ガイド (新機能) : Thunderbird 2 からのスムーズな移行を可能にするツールを搭載しました。Thunderbird 3 以降でツールバーボタンの配置などが変更されているため、Thunderbird 3.1 へアップグレードする際に、それらの新機能を使用するか、既存の機能や設定を使い続けるかを選択できるようになりました。

保存したファイルの管理画面 (新機能) : 保存した添付ファイルや、メッセージ本文のリンクからダウンロードしたファイルの一覧を表示して、簡単にファイルを探すことができます。

Thunderbird 2 は、現行の 2.0.0.24 が最後のバージョンとなり、サポートが終了します。今後セキュリティアップデートは行われませんので、Thunderbird 2 をお使いの方はできるだけ早く 3.1 へアップグレードされるようお勧めします。アップグレードはもちろん無料です。
Thunderbird 3 も、3.1 の公開から 6 か月後となる今年 12 月にサポート終了予定です。

OpenSolaris x86 対応版 Tarball をダウンロードして、すでにインストール済みの Thunderbird 3.0.5 の時と同様の手順で、My NoteBook PC にインストールする。

システム環境： OpenSolaris dev. build 134 on Dell Latitude D410.

アドオンについては、Tb-3.1 や SunOS に未対応のものが多々あるようだ。追々拡充してゆくことでせう。

Thunderbird 3.0.5 Released for OpenSolaris dev. b134

Thunderbird 3.0.5 がリリースされた。早速、OpenSolaris dev. b134 にインストール済みの Thunderbird 3.0.4 を 3.0.5 にアップデートする。

【Thunderbird 3.0.5】リリース。
本バージョンではメッセージインデックスに関するパフォーマンスの改良やUIのフィックスなどがなされており、Windows版の現行版を使っていればヘルプメニューからのアップデートが可能となっている。

Thunderbird 3.1 のリリースも近いようだが、現行版を使っている方はアップデートするとよいでせう。

Thunderbird 3.0.5での主な変更点:

5. Thunderbird の起動:

アプリケーションメニュー → インターネット → Thunderbird 3.0.5 メール/カレンダーを選択して起動するか、端末を開いてコマンドラインで、

$ thunderbird305 -P & (ここで、-P オプションを与えて ProfileManager を起動する)

Thunderbird 3.0.5 用のプロファイルを作成して、起動時にそれを選択する。

6. メニューなどを日本語表示にする。

6-1. ダウンロードした JLP - ja.xpi をインストールする。

Thunderbird の Toolsメニューにある Add-ons / Extensions を選び、Extensions ウィンドウを開く。
そして Install ボタンを押し、ローカルにダウンロードした JLP: ja.xpi を選択する。
下図は、インストールされた Thunderbird 3.0.5 対応 JLP。

6-2. Thunderbird の言語設定を「ja-JP」に変更する。

方法-1. : Thunderbirdのインストール先: /usr/lib/thunderbird-3.0.5/defaults/pref/all-l10n.js をテキストエディタなどで開き、以下のように「general.useragent.locale」の設定値を「ja-JP」に変更する。

方法-2. : Thunderbird のTools メニューにある Options を選び、Options ウィンドウを開く。
Advanced にある General タブを選び、Config Editor ボタンを押してabout:config ウィンドウを開く。
そして「general.useragent.locale」の設定値を「ja-JP」に変更する。

6-3. Thunderbird を再起動すると、設定が反映されてメニューなどが日本語表示される。

早速、My Notebook PC にインストールした。

動作環境：

Firefox 3.6.2 を My Notebook PC にインストールする。
My Notebook PC には OpenSolaris development preview build_134 をクリーンインストールした。

$ uname -a

SunOS ****** 5.11 snv_134 i86pc i386 i86pc Solaris

$ java -version

java version "1.6.0_18"

Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_18-b07)

Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 16.0-b13, mixed mode)

例によって、Mozilla.org から、それぞれ tarball をダウンロードして、展開後に /usr/lib 以下にインストールする。

■ Firefox 3.6.2 のダウンロードとインストール

■ Firefox Plugins のインストール

snv_134 にプレインストールされている Firefox-3.5.8 の plugins ディレクトリから適宜コピーする。

$ cd /usr/lib/firefox-3.6.2/plugins

$ cp -p ../../firefox/plugins/libtotem-*.so .

$ cp -p ../../firefox/plugins/libflashplayer.so .

$ cp -p ../../firefox/plugins/nppdf.so .

※ Java Plugin のインストール：

Firefox 3.5 では認識できている Java プラグインを Firefox 3.6 では認識してくれない。

Firefox 3.6 以降でも認識できる様にする為には下記を実行するとよい。

# cd /usr/lib/firefox-3.6.2/plugins

# ln -s /usr/java/jre/lib/i386/libnpjp2.so .

# ls -l /usr/lib/firefox-3.6.2/plugins

libjavaplugin_oji.so を Firefox 3.6 が何故認識してくれないのかと言うと、Firefox 3.6 からは Java プラグインを使用する為の API が変更されているからだそうだ。

Firefox 3.6 以降では、Mozilla Foundation は OJI (Open Java 仮想マシンの統合) のサポートを廃止し、今後は、標準の NPAPI および NPRuntime インタフェースだけをサポートしていく予定です。
Java Version 6 Update 10 以降のバージョンに含まれている Java プラグインは、NPAPI および NPRuntime のインタフェースをサポートしています。このため、Firefox 3.6 以降では、Java Version 6 Update 10 以降を実行していない場合、Java ベースのアプレットは動作しません。

日本語化パッケージ（JLP）をダウンロードする。

release 対応の linux-i686/xpi directory から ja.xpi をダウンロードしておく。

起動ファイルの symbolic link を /usr/bin directory に作成する。

Firefox 3.6.2 の起動

Terminal を起動して、コマンドラインで、

$ firefox362 -P

または、アプリケーション → インターネット → 【Firefox 3.6.2 ウェブブラウザ】から。

Profile Manager 画面がポップアップするので、該当 Profile を選択すれば起動する。

メニューの日本語表示

Firefox Addons から Quick locale Switcherをインストールしてから（再起動ののちに）、先にダウンロードした JLP-xpi を読み込んで、インストールする。（Firefox 再起動）

メニュー → ツール(T) → 言語の変更(L) で ja-JP（日本語・・・）を選択して、

Firefox を再起動すれば、メニューほかが日本語表示されるようになる。

Firefox-3.6 and Thunderbird-3.0.1 Latest Release for OpenSolaris dev. build_132

先の方法で OpenSolaris development build 132 を My Notebook PC に update install した。
b132 への update 後の Firefox と Thunderbird の release version は、
$ firefox -version

Mozilla によれば最新バージョンは、Firefox-3.6 、Thunderbird-3.0.1 である。OpenSolaris dev. b132 に pre-install された Firefox 3.5.7 と Thuderbird 3.0 をアンインストールして最新版に置き換えるには、依存性を解決するのがとても悩ましいので、例によって、tarball をダウンロードしてインストールする。
※ Firefox 3.5.7 の依存性をチェックしてみる。

②・ダウンロードした Firefox-3.6 tarball の展開：super-user になって、

release 対応の linux-i686/xpi directory から ja.xpi をダウンロードしておく。

⑤ 起動ファイルの symbolic link を /usr/bin directory に作成する。

⑥ Firefox-3.6 と Thunderbird-3.0.1 の起動:

これでようやく、起動することができた。
起動後に④でダウンロードした日本語化パッケージ(JLP) ja.xpi と Mozilla Addons から "Quicl Locale Switcher" をインストールして、言語の変更で ja-JP に切り替えれば、メニューほかが日本語表示される。
ついで、適宜お好みの Addons/Extensions をインストールする。
